Over 35 years ago, Western Australian farmer Kent Egerton-Warburton saw an opportunity to help farmers with accounting, cash flow, budgeting, reporting, tax compliance and payroll. Kent was an early adopter of technology in the 1970s. He worked with economists at UWA utilising the cashbook and budget printouts from the university's computers. Kent learned to program, bought a computer and spent a year writing a farm-focused software program – Agrimaster was born.
Kent soon saw the commercial viability of Agrimaster. In 1992 Kent’s son, David along with his wife Natalie set up a training company to show users how to use Agrimaster. Since then Agrimaster has progressed improving functionality and ease of use whilst transitioning parts of the software to the cloud for easier collaboration.
The key point of difference of Agrimaster is its relative simplicity and the fact that it is an agricultural farming family business, where all partners play a critical role in its success.
It is a niche product with a unique demographic. Agrimaster allows full enterprise budgeting, cash flow projection and detailed reporting. It has special features, such as fuel tax rebates calculation and RCTI imports. All this allows the farmer to make informed forecasts and business decisions.
This clear focus on the end user, the simple operating requirements and the lack of complicated terminology are big pluses, but the overwhelming point is peace of mind. Adding to the peace of mind is the Perth based office that services, trains, supports and develops the software. Along with the regular roadshows and field day events - the end user is at peace that they will always see and speak directly to the people behind the product.
