The new Scholars will research innovative global concepts, techniques and systems that will hopefully create positive change in their own businesses, communities and the broader agriculture sector.

Successful scholarship winners will undertake a global study program using a $30,000 bursary, researching their chosen topic across 14 weeks.

Nuffield Australia Chief Executive Officer Jodie Redcliffe, said the 2021 Scholars are a cohort who have a shared mindset that change, adaptation and innovation are central to the future growth and sustainability of Australia's agriculture sector and its businesses.

"For 70 years, Nuffield Australia has remained committed to ensuring the delivery of high-quality and valuable scholarship programs that drive industry leadership, particularly through periods of adaptation and change," Redcliffe said.

"The 2021 Scholars are seeking to address some of these critical priorities by researching opportunities for new markets, the sustainable use of natural resources and strategies to meet societal expectations across all aspects of food and fibre production.

"Scholars will gain access to worldwide and world class producers, agribusinesses and research institutions to conduct valuable research, that will drive change and innovation within Australia's agricultural industries," Redcliffe said.

The 2021 Nuffield Scholarship recipients are Georgia Beattie, Diggers Rest, Victoria, Michael Densham, Main Ridge, Victoria, Lucy Collins, Dixie, Victoria, Hans Loder, Coonawarra, South Australia, Josh McIntosh, Nadda, SA, Kelly McTavish, Wamuran, Queensland, Leisa Sams, Peachester, Queensland, Pieter van Jaarsveld, Gore, Queensland, Tracey Martin, Home Hill, Queensland , Andrew McKillop, Bellmere, Queensland and Joshua Maunder, Bellenden Ker, Queensland.

Charles Downie, Gretna, Tasmania, was also awarded a scholarship, along with Friedrich (Fritz) Bolten, Kununurra, Western Australia, Camille Camp, Derby, WA, Kathryn Fleay, Mingenew, WA, Robert Bell, Plains, WA, Andrew Rolfe, Cooma, New South Wales, Michael Cains, Robertson, NSW, Claire Petterson, Collingullie, NSW and Brendan Jarrett, Cargo, NSW.
