Wool production continues downward trend

THE Australian Wool Production Forecasting Committee (AWPFC) has predicted shorn wool production in 2019/20 to be 272 mkg greasy, a decline of 9.2 per cent on 2018/19.

The AWPFC attributes the decline to lower sheep numbers and lighter average fleece weights due to continuing dry conditions in key wool growing regions.
