Winners in four categories; Australian Farmer of the Year, Young Australian Farmer of the Year, Farming Legend of the Year,  Rural Community Leader of the Year and Rural Consultant of the Year will all be announced this afternoon.

Held at the prestigious Parliament House in Canberra over 100 delegates will celebrate the best farmers in the country at a networking and award luncheon, broadcasted live by ABC-Rural.

Special guests and delegates from all facets of the agriculture industry and politics will come together to honour the best in Australian farming, including agricultural sector representatives from the National Farmer’s Federation, Grain Research Development Corporation, Rural Industries Research & Development Corporation, National Rural Health Alliance and GrainGrowers Limited.

Ministers, senators and shadow ministers from every side of politics will join guests and industry leaders in toasting the nation’s top agricultural echelon including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources, The Hon. Barnaby Joyce MP.

The 2017 Awards have been supported by some of our industry’s leading agricultural organisations. We pay tribute to them here, as they have each played a significant role in the annual awards event.

Farming Ahead editor Ben White said the quality of the awards had grown each year and the event itself was becoming more prestigious.

“We have had amazing support from our media-partners and sponsors and thank all our nominees in the agricultural sector for making the event what it is,” White said.
