So do Merinos need to be planted deeper than crossbreds for good germination? We put this question to Owen Hayes-Thompson from Bruce Rock, Western Australia who found this woolly wanderer had absent-mindedly fallen down a strainer-post hole Owen had dug just minutes earlier before going to get some cement and sand. Owen reports the intrepid ovine was quickly rescued and checked over after the photo. He said apart from some damaged pride, she was unhurt but departed quickly and rather “sheepishly” in embarrassment. Talk about a “baaaa-d” day!

The photo has been a hit on social media earning Owen a few digs from cheeky fellow farmers. Despite the potential for further mockery, Owen was kind enough to send this in to us so we could share the laugh with members in print. Thanks Owen, a voucher for a pair of boots from our friends at Blundstone is on its way to you.

Got a great farm photo? It could be ‘EWEsful’ if you need a new pair of boots. Send it through to us via Facebook, on MMS on 040 111 FARM (040 111 3276) or email us at contact@kondinin.com.au and you could win yourself a pair of Blundstone boots too.
