THE AUSTRALIAN Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences (ABARES) has released a new set of insights into Australia’s agriculture industries.

Agriculture Insights will help form policy and educate the public.

The short, highly accessible series named Insights is designed to help shape the national agricultural debate, public policy and provide a greater community understanding.

The first release Snapshot of Australian agriculture revealed a range of factors has seen large farms (with receipts above $1 million per year in real terms) grow from around 3 per cent to around 16%, while their share of output has increased from 25% to around 60% of the value of output.

ABARES Executive Director, Dr Steve Hatfield-Dodds, said the aim is to support discussion of agricultural industries in Australia by improving access to existing evidence and expertise.
