Prices start at $44,090, plus on-road costs, for the BT-50 XT cab chassis, 4x2 variant and go up to $59,990 plus on roads for the top-of-the-range BT-50 GT dual cab 4x4 with automatic transmission.

Mazda offers a choice of 4x2 and 4x4 drivetrains with six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmissions and dual cab chassis or dual cab pickups in three trim levels: XT, XTR and the highly-specified GT.

Standard across the range is a five-year, unlimited kilometre warranty with free roadside assist for the warranty's duration. Servicing intervals are set at 12 months or 15,000km, whichever comes first.

Powering the new Mazda BT-50 is a turbocharged 3.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine that generates 140kW peak power along with 450Nm torque.

Mazda claims in six-speed automatic-only 4x2 dual cab pickup models, fuel use is 7.7L/100km for the combined cycle (city and highway driving) and the same for the 4x4 dual cab pickups when equipped with the six-speed manual transmission.

When fitted with the six-speed automatic transmission, 4x4 dual cab pickups and 4X2 dual cab chassis models achieve 8.0L/100km on the combined fuel use cycle.

While the XT is the basic specification, it includes the of following as standard fitment:
