Not only were all power sectors down, but sales fell in just about every state. For the month of September, tractor sales slipped 18 per cent compared to September last year.
Agriview's Alan Kirsten, who collects sales data on behalf of the Tractor and Machinery Association, said the slow down has been expected but overall, the year should finish on a reasonable note.
"Year-to-date sales are at 9090, which is only slightly down on the previous year-to-date so we should still get close to 10,000 sales which is a pretty solid year," Kirsten said.
"However there is concern for next year given the amount of new machinery sitting in dealerships and possible tightening of lending criteria as a result of the Banking Inquiry."
