VIDEO: Fendt's 500hp tractor hits the paddocks

Kondinin Group's Mark Saunders was there to drive the beast

Fendt’s powerful 1000 series tractors were launched in Australia last month when AGCO unveiled the big green machines at Horsham in the Victorian Wimmera.

There are four models in the range; the 1038 (396hp), 1042 (435hp), 1046 (476hp) and the range-topping 1050 with peak power of 517hp or 380kW. Each model is also available in three levels of specification; PowerPlus, Profi and ProfiPlus.

All four tractors are powered by a six-cylinder, 12.4 litre MAN diesel engine which sees the 1050 punching out 2400Nm of torque at just 1100 engine revs.

Whatever way you look at it, the Fendt is a beast of a tractor. Curb weight is 14 tonnes and maximum weight is 23 tonnes.

But amid the sheer size of the tractor, sporting Fendt’s new-look Nature Green paint work, there is an array of high end technology which makes the tractor easy to drive and efficient.
