The Axent 100.1 is a large-capacity trailed spreader which can handle 9400 litres of product such as dry fertiliser or lime.

There are two different spreading “packs” which can be attached to the rear of the spreader; an Axis pack for products such as dry fertiliser and cover crop seed and another pack for lime.

The Axent has a belt conveyor to deliver product to the rear of the spreader and then the products flows through an agitator before being placed into a mini-hopper and then onto two spinner discs.

One of the key design features of the spreader is its application rate control which is achieved by torque sensors. The sensors can monitor the load on the hydraulic-drive spinners and automatically make adjustments to the gate opening to adjust the flow rate of the product.

Other machinery highlights at the WMFD included a new UniTube conveyor, imported by Eagle i machinery at Finley, NSW, and a Russian-made Kirovets articulated tractor.

The Kirovets tractor has a 428hp (320kW), six-cylinder Mercedes diesel engine and is basic in its design with plenty of levers and control arms in the cabin, leaf springs and air brakes.

At $270,000 plus GST for the Kirovets, it’s cheap horsepower and the tractor comes with a two-year/1500 hour warranty.

More details on these machines will be published in the April edition of the Farming Ahead magazine.
