Manufactured in St Valentin, Austria, the Optum CVT will be available in August and in two models; a 300hp (224kW) version and 270hp (201kW) version.

Both models will run a 6.7 litre NEF engine from FPT Industrial which complies to the latest Tier 4B exhaust emission standards, using the patented Hi-eSCR system. This means the tractors require AdBlue as well as diesel.

The continuously variable transmission, or CVT, has been carried over from the LWB Puma range – and reinforced to handle the extra power of the Optum CVT, with a strengthened casting, new rear axle and double planetary final drives. The CVT has a useable speed range from 20m/hr to a top speed of 50km/hr and the active stop feature like the rest of the CVT range.

One of the big changes to note is with the chassis where the engine sump now serves as the part of the backbone of the tractor, removing stress from the engine block.

This design change has allowed Case IH to boost the maximum weight of the tractor to 16,000kg.

Other notable features on the Optum CVT include:

  • New reactive steering – for comfortable driving at speed as the steering wheel returns to the straight ahead position
  • ABS/ABS advanced and automatic park lock
  • 4-speed rear PTO, 2-speed front PTO
  • Closed Centre Load Sensing Hydraulic System - 220 litres/min hydraulic flow with separate steering and transmission systems
  • 630 litres diesel tank and 96 litres AdBlue tank
  • Rear linkage with 11,058kg maximum lifting power at ball ends
  • Front linkage with 5,821kg maximum lifting power at ball ends
  • ISOBUS Class II/III
  • Headland Management Control (HMC II) and remote file transfer function

More details will be available in the March Farming Ahead magazine.

The Optum CVT will be available in limited supply during the year.  For more details visit the website
