From the established brands such as Stihl, Husqvarna and Makita to a few not-so-well-known models, the research team has thoroughly evaluated the saws to cut through some of the myths of battery power and these high speed and highly versatile tools.

As well as running speed cutting tests and looking at running time, the chainsaw research also covers saw ergonomics, ease of maintenance and use.

As with other power tools used on the farm, the battery-powered trend has well and truly caught up with chainsaws. Thirteen saws have been reviewed and the results will be published in the July edition of the Farming Ahead magazine.
