The roadshow, run by the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) and supported by FarmLink and Primary Sales Australia, was hosted by the Gooden family from Osborne, NSW.

Attendees heard from a range of expert speakers to help with upcoming harvest preparations. Speakers included Kondinin Group's Ben White, Primary Sales Australia's Peter Broley, Seed Terminator's Brett Asphar, harvest specialist Kassie Van Der Westhuizen, agronomist Greg Condon and grain storage expert Chris Warrick.

Heidi Gooden also spoke at the harvest workshop, highlighting the need for safety to be a priority at harvest and on the farm in general.

"We had a tragedy locally recently with the death of a young man in a truck accident which was a reminder that farm safety is a key," Gooden said.

"We can underestimate how tired and stressed we can be at critical times of the year like at harvest, especially when everyone is busy and something like a rain front coming puts the pressure on.

"We are a family business but we still have to be aware of each other's age bracket and skill set. You must have a plan and things like tool box meetings at the start of the day to set the tone and expectation are very important," she said.

"It's the same when thinking about harvest fires. Everyone needs to be a part of that, not just the driver. It could simply be a reminder to them to ask if they have blown the header down or to get out and stretch their legs. Safety needs to be a true team effort."
