Kondinin Group General manager of research, Ben White said that emotion can sometimes get in the way of facts when it comes to issues people are passionate about.

"This is more pronounced when livelihoods are at stake or communication is poor.

In some cases, assumptions are made but only the loudest voices in the room are heard, which may not represent the general consensus." White said in the report foreword.

"This report looks to address the latter issue with an in-depth survey around the perceptions of landholders in relation to energy production.

Furthermore, this report aims to identify opportunities for improved communication and understanding with the ultimate goal being to achieve positive outcomes for both landholders and energy producers."
