Research Report: 2020 Air carts (June 2020)

Kondinin Group has inspected more than a dozen air seeder carts.

Air seeder carts are getting bigger and despite travel being limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the research team was able to source commodity carts from a variety of districts including Esperance and Goomalling in Western Australia, the Riverina in New South Wales and the Mallee and Wimmera in Victoria.

A big thank you goes out to the primary producers who allowed the researchers to inspect the carts at such a busy time of the year. Our research doesn’t happen without your co-operation.

Pleasingly, most carts and seeding rigs were operating in close to ideal conditions following a genuine autumn break.

In terms of the carts in operation, the trend towards larger capacities looks set to continue with several models well and truly breaking the 30,000 litre barrier.

A good example is the latest Bourgault series – featured exclusively in this report for the first time in Australia – which should arrive in the country very shortly. Bourgault’s brand new 9000 series peaks at a huge 45,700 litres.
