Best crop types for combating high strength soils

High strength soils and compaction-related issues create challenging growing conditions for crops across Australia’s western and southern grain growing regions by reducing root growth and restricting access to soil nutrients and water. While a lot of attention has been focused on soil amelioration strategies to maximise production in problematic soils, Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) has invested into a new project which aims to provide an alternative solution for managing these soils.
