Available as a hard copy or for download on the GRDC website, the annual publication enables growers to drill down into specific variety characteristics, such as yield performance and disease ratings to ensure selected varieties are ideally suited to local production conditions.

GRDC's National Variety Trials (NVT) regional manager - South, Trevor Garnett, said the sowing guide was published every spring to assist growers to make variety choices for the following season.

"The NVT data is used to collate the guide with the aim of providing independent information on varieties for growers, including disease resistance ratings," Garnett said.

"Importantly, the guide prompts growers to ask whether they're growing the best variety for their location, environment and farming system."

The sowing guide ranks new and widely adopted varieties in terms of grain yield and quality relevant to delivery standards. The new publication includes information on 11 different grain types and including data on new varieties.

The latest 2021 NVT data is available via the NVT website, which also hosts the 2022 Victorian Crop Sowing Guide.
