New EYCI record set

WIDESPREAD rainfall over parts of eastern Australia last week resulted in a spike in young cattle prices, with the Eastern Young Cattle Indicator (EYCI) reaching a new high of 1187c/kg.

The EYCI has started the year with another broken record.

The higher prices were achieved despite yardings increasing by more than 70 per cent to 13,515 head, Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) reported.
