Farm safety rebate program starts in Victoria

THE Victorian Government, through Agriculture Victoria, has provided an opportunity to improve safety on farms with the establishment of the Farm Safety Rebate Scheme.

Rebates of up to $5000 are available with at least 50 per cent co-contribution to assist eligible farm businesses within Victoria to invest in infrastructure and equipment to improve safety for farming families, workers and visitors to Victorian farms.

The Scheme is a part of the ‘Smarter, Safer Farms' program - a $20 million Victorian Government commitment to improve safety and skills outcomes for Victorian farmers.

Funding for the Scheme is provided from the Agriculture Infrastructure and Jobs Fund. 
Applications opened 25 February and close on 31 December 2021.

Rebates are available until the closing date or when program funds are fully allocated, whichever is sooner.

Rebates of up to $5000 (excluding GST) are available to eligible farm business and will require at least a 50 per cent cash co-contribution.

There are strict guidelines which include the business being focused on primary production, having an Australian Business Number and being registered for GST.

Examples of projects include safety fencing for children, safety and warning signs and improving animal handling equipment.
