See the Kondinin team on location researching harvester fronts

Ben White

“The harvester fronts Research Report gave Mark, Josh and I the opportunity to travel to the Southern part of Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales to see a number of draper, variable knife extension fronts as well as stripper fronts in action,” Ben said.

“All of the farms we visited were generous with their time and provided sound insight into the benefits and drawbacks of design and construction features for each front,” he said.

Thanks to all of farmers and contractors we spoke to about harvester fronts, for graciously operating harvesters for multiple passes at varying speeds with replication to help us gather sound data.

Measuring harvester front losses was one of the first tasks the Kondinin Researchers undertook back in 1999 when we comparatively measured losses in a stripper and draper front in a wheat paddock near Temora, NSW and it was nice to confirm and validate some of the data we gathered nearly two decades ago.
