Market analyst, Alan Kirsten, Agriview, announced the strong sales result yesterday at the annual Tractor and Machinery Association conference, held in Melbourne.
There were 1611 new tractor delivered in June, up 36 per cent on the previous June and the highest number recorded for June since tractor sales data has been collated.
The year-to-date figures point to a strong result as well, with 6327 tractors delivered, 11 per cent above the first half of 2016.
Kirsten said the continued availability of cheap finance was a primary driver for the tractor market.
“Finance rates of close to zero per cent have made buying machinery attractive,” Kirsten said.
“I expect we will see tractors sales break the 13,000 mark by the end of the year.”
TMA executive director Gary Northover said the tractor market was travelling well, despite some seasonal concerns.
“June was a huge month across the board for tractor sales despite the cropping concerns in Western Australia,” Northover said.
About 140 people attended the TMA conference where the theme was “Advocacy, distribution and youth”.
