The Pommier 48.5m B3 Mega aluminium boom can be used with a specific Miller centre frame and comes with standard hydraulic anti-yaw.

Aluminium booms are becoming more popular due to their light weight and resistance to certain chemicals when compared to steel booms.

The Pommier boom plays a big part in several sprayers manufactured by Exel Industries which has a stake in many brands including Hardi, Apache and Agrifac.

In Australia, Miller self-propelled sprayers are distributed by McIntosh Distribution.

McIntosh’s Jon Bent said limited stocks of the Pommier option would be available for delivery from May 2017 for orders being placed now.

Other Miller steel boom options include Spray-Air booms which use air-assist and air-atomisation technology to apply chemicals.

The development of a carbon fibre boom is another recent technology available to spray gear. The carbon fibre boom will be available on John Deere sprayers as an ex-factory option from next year.
