NATIONAL lamb slaughter has hit a seven-year low for the December quarter amid heightened restocker intent in the eastern states, according to Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA).

Sheep slaughter numbers are at a record low.

The latest Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) data for the December 2020 quarter reported national lamb slaughter at 5.4 million head, the lowest December quarterly average since 2013.
