Trials track use of shelter by sheep

With increased shearing of ewes just before lambing, many breeds, including Merinos, become more susceptible to potential hypothermia. Researchers at the University of New England (UNE) have been looking at the most effective shelter and sheltering
habits used by pregnant and lambing Merinos during spring. Pamela Lawson talked to Dr Donnalee Taylor about the trials and their findings.

It is well known the loss of recently shorn sheep and young lambs can be significant in cold- and wet-weather snaps.
