China launched a new ETS in January 2021, although initial pricing was not known at the time of this report. Prior to the launch a number of pilot ETS in China saw prices ranging from US$2 to US$5, as of November 2020.
In Australia, the 11th Emissions Reduction Fund auction was held in September 2020, and saw the Clean Energy Regulator committing to purchase 7 million tonnes of abatement on behalf of the Commonwealth. The average price per tonne of abatement purchased at the auction was AU$15.74 (US$12).
