ACCORDING to Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) all major market signs point to an impending lamb shortage this winter.

The MLA said conditions look increasingly likely to have a strong impact on lamb supply at some point during winter.

The meat authority noted the Eastern States Trade Lamb Indicator (ESTLI) averaged 708¢/kg carcase weight (cwt) on 10 April, up 22 per cent year-on-year.
