Ford Raptor closing in on Australia

FORD MOTOR Company has announced the extreme version of the Ford Ranger ute will be available in an off-road performance variant for the first time. Arriving in Asia Pacific in 2018, the purpose-built, desert-racing inspired ute will join the Ford Performance family, carrying the name ‘Ford Ranger Raptor’.

Ford has been on a winner with the Ranger, the best-selling ute in a number of markets across Asia Pacific. The Ford Ranger Raptor is more akin to an off-road racer with a more bold appearance and high-end off-road performance features.

The Raptor shares the same nomenclature as the F-150 Raptor and has Ford and probably a few of its die hard fans licking their chops.

“We are very excited to bring Asia Pacific’s toughest and smartest pickup truck to a whole new level,” Trevor Worthington, vice president, product development, Ford Asia Pacific said.

“Ford Ranger Raptor will offer Ranger fans a fantastic opportunity to own an authentic off-road performance version of their favorite truck for the first time.”
