Kondinin Group research has found that the majority of members producing wool and sheep meat do not refer to Australian Sheep Breeding Values (ASBVs) when selecting rams according to the latest National Agricultural Survey (NAS) figures. By Mark Saunders and Ben White.

But producers are aware of the influence genetics can have in achieving breeding programme performance goals with two in three indicating they select rams on this basis.

This Research Report looks at the tools available to wool and sheep meat producers to improve flock performance through objective measurement, defined breeding objectives, goal setting and researched selection of breeding stock.
