Young cattle prices drop

THE Eastern Young Cattle Indicator (EYCI) has softened by 18.34c from last week, down eight per cent since the highs of early January, according to Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA).

Easing of restocker demand has seen the EYCI reach its lowest since the end of last year.

MLA stated this could be an indication of easing restocker demand, and it is the lowest the EYCI has been since November last year, when it was operating at 1099.9c/kg carcase weight (cwt).
