Farmers back controversial protest laws

DESPITE being branded as a means to criminalise nature lovers, farmers in Tasmania are backing new state legislation to impose stiff penalties on protesters who disrupt workplaces

The legislation was amended last week to cover five industries, including agriculture, forestry, mining, construction and manufacturing, while on-the-spot fines for first offenders were dropped
