DMI resistance in wheat powdery mildew confirmed in Australia

NEW South Wales and Victorian grain growers are urged to be on alert following confirmation that difficulties controlling wheat powdery mildew in 2020 is linked to resistance of the pathogen to demethylase inhibitor (DMI, Group 3) fungicides.

Resistance to DMI in wheat powdery mildew has been detected in Australia.

According to the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC), fungicide resistance was detected at frequencies ranging from 50 to 100 per cent in samples collected from paddocks around Albury,
