Managing ryegrass in chickpea crops

ACCORDING TO THE Queensland Alliance for Agriculture and Food Innovation (QAAFI) weeds researcher Bhagirath Chauhan, annual ryegrass is becoming increasingly prevalent in the northern cropping region, with many populations already having a high level of resistance to the major herbicides registered for use in chickpea crops.

The QAAFI weeds researcher said growers are looking for ways to add non-chemical in-crop options to an integrated weed control program to prevent a yield-limiting blow-out in ryegrass populations.
