Farmday Fundraiser lifts spirits
Story Added : 10th March 2011
The event, which was coordinated entirely by volunteer staff, students, parents and community members, raised more than $3000, with an additional $1000 donated by Andrew Gorton of the Armadale Freemason Lodges.
Local business also donated a generous range of prizes and vouchers used throughout the day.
The day offered plenty of distractions for young and old with camel rides, scare-crow making, calf-naming, cattle weight competition, animal handling, bouncy castle, shearing and milking demonstrations.
The bushfires were the result of a person operating an angle grinder while undertaking metalwork. In total, 72 homes in the Kelmscott-Roleystone area were destroyed, while dozens more were badly damaged.
