A bus has crashed into a unit block on the New South Wales central coast, killing the driver and seriously injuring a resident who was inside at the time.
The crash happened about 4.15pm (AEST) near Greenfield and Rickards roads at Empire Bay near Woy Woy.
The bus crashed into the residential block, leaving the resident under a pile of rubble.
He was freed and taken to John Hunter Hospital by helicopter with serious injuries. Police have described his condition as critical.
A woman who was also inside the premises was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The ambulance service confirmed the bus driver was trapped for some time before he died.
Several other people on the bus suffered minor injuries, and at least one was taken to hospital for treatment.
Fire crews worked to shore up the building which was extensively damaged.
ABC reporter Justine Kearney attended the scene of the crash and said:
"It's a pretty chaotic scene down here in the quiet town of Empire Bay.
"The bus is half-way into the building.
"There are plenty of residents around just watching this unfold."
Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
